Voyager 1 is the only man-made object that has reached the farthest point in space from our planet!

Since it lifted off on September 5, 1977, Voyager 1 has traveled through space at about 17 kilometers per second. It officially entered interstellar space in 2012 and was the first human spacecraft to do so. After that, the probe also became the most distant human-made object.

Voyager 1 is one of two spacecraft that have the same mission. The twin Voyager 2 probe left the Solar System in 2018. Both are currently in interstellar space, more than 20 billion kilometers from Earth.

It's just that Voyager 1, one of NASA's longest-running space missions, hasn't sent data back to Earth since mid-November 2023. Engineers are trying to fix the computer glitch that caused communication to break, but distance and outdated technology make very difficult task.

There is growing fear among the mission team that no solution can be found and that the ship carrying the Golden Plaque and alien messages in 59 languages, including Romanian, is lost forever.

The probe has not sent data to Earth since November 14, 2023, and, as announced by the US agency NASA, it appears to be receiving and executing commands transmitted by the mission control team in California and continues to move through interstellar space, but cannot transmits data back to Earth, writes LiveScience.
