Vienna House becomes Vienna House by Wyndham. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has acquired the Austrian hotel brand Vienna House!
Wyndham has acquired the Vienna House brand from HR Group, a Berlin-based European hotel operator and franchise partner of Wyndham. It will continue to own or lease and operate existing Vienna House hotels under long-term franchise agreements with Wyndham.
The transaction aims to develop the Vienna House brand under the Wyndham brand while allowing HR Group to focus on its core competencies as a property owner and operator across Europe. The Vienna House brand will become part of the Wyndham brand portfolio and will be known as Vienna House by Wyndham. The international press estimates the transaction at 44 million dollars.
The acquisition adds 28 German properties to the Wyndham network. At the European level, no less than 120 franchise hotels totaling 19.000 rooms will be added to the portfolio, thus Wyndham expanding into neighboring countries. Together with Wyndham's current presence in Europe, the combined portfolio exceeds 400 hotels in over 30 countries.
Vienna House caters to a large number of business and leisure travelers with a portfolio of state-of-the-art hotels including the Vienna House and Vienna House Easy brands located in many European destinations including Berlin, Munich, Prague, Krakow and Bucharest. The brand will also expand globally with Vienna House Vung Tau in Long Hải, Vietnam.
This is not Wyndham's first European acquisition. In 2010, the company acquired the Tryp brand from the Spanish group Meliá Hotels International.
