On March 24, 1942, the test pilot, Fritz Wendel, at the helm of a Messerschmitt Me 262V1, PC + UA, operated the first flight of a propulsion aircraft. Unfortunately, the experimental BMW 003 gas turbine engines failed to cope, and the driver had to return to Augsburg. The Jumo 210 engine was mounted on the front of the aircraft, specially installed for this test flight.

A Devlet Hava Yollari Douglas DC-3 aircraft caught fire in the air near Ankara.

On March 25, 1950, a Devlet Hava Yollari Douglas DC-3 (TC-BAL) aircraft caught fire in the air as it approached Ankara, Turkey. All the people on board lost consciousness and the aircraft crashed. On impact with the runway, the 15 people on board the aircraft lost their lives.

The first flight of the Vought F-8 Crusader.

On March 25, 1955, the first flight of the Vought F-8 Crusader took place. The Vought F-8 Crusader (originally F8U) was a single-engine, supersonic, carrier aircraft built by Vought for the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps (replacing the Vought F7U Cutlass), but also for the French Navy. The first F-8 prototype was ready for flight in February 1955. The F-8 served mainly in the Vietnam War. Crusader was the last American fighter jet.

A Braniff Airlines aircraft crashed into a swamp.

On March 25, 1958, a Braniff Airlines aircraft, a Douglas DC-7 (N5904), took off from Miami, Florida, and attempted to return to the airport shortly after takeoff after engine number 3 caught fire. The attempt failed and, of the 24 people on board the aircraft, 9 of them died on landing in a swamp.

On March 25, 1971, the first flight of the Ilyushin Il-76 SSSR-86712 took place. Ilyushin Il-76 (Russian: Илью́шин Ил-76; NATO name: Candid) is a multi-purpose, multi-purpose aircraft designed by the Soviet Union's Ilyushin Company. It was first thought of as a commercial aircraft in 1967 as a replacement for the Antonov An-12. It was designed to deliver heavy machinery to remote, poorly serviced areas. Military versions of the Il-76 have been widely used in Europe, Asia and Africa, or as a command center.

QANTAS has withdrawn the last Boeing 707 aircraft.

On March 25, 1979, QANTAS withdrew the last Boeing 707, becoming the world's first airline with an exclusive fleet of Boeing 747s.

Barbara Harmer became the first female pilot to fly a Concorde aircraft.

On March 25, 1993, Barbara Harmer became the first female pilot to fly a Concorde aircraft. The pilot made a daily flight between London and New York. Born in the UK, Barbara was one of 17 co-pilots in the British Airways Concorde fleet.

Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight 810 caught fire at Bangladesh Airport.

On March 25, 2008, Saudi Arabian Airlines Flight 810, a Boeing 747-300 (TF-ARS) aircraft chartered from Air Atlanta Icelandic, caught fire at Bangladesh's Dhaka-Zia International Airport. All 326 people on board the aircraft survived, but the aircraft was severely damaged.

On March 25, 2013, Boeing conducted the first of two test flights of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft to show that changes to the 787's lithium-ion battery system solved the problem of battery overheating experienced by Dreamliners earlier this year. The plane, which was painted in the LOT Polish Airlines livery, took off from Paine Field in Everett, Washington, flew south on the Washington coast, and in the middle of the Oregon coast made a circle flying at low altitude and speed over Juan de Fuca Strait, before returning. No incidents were reported during the flight.
