The civil aviation industry is based on high standards for efficiency and safety. Airline companies are constantly collaborating with authorities to improve safety standards globally.
European airspace is among the safest in the world and this is due to the effective European air safety standards. However, there are also airline operators who continue to honor flights under conditions below the minimum safety requirements.
Last month, The European Commission has approved the 19 update of the European list of air carriers which, for security reasons, are subject to a ban or operating restrictions within the European Union.
The airline Conviasa, certified in Venezuela, has been added to the list due to unresolved safety issues.
The European list for aviation safety has been updated as follows:
- for the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the company has been added Jet Congo Airways;
- for Equatorial Guinea, has been added Blue dot and GETRA, Guinea Airways, UTAGE, Euroguineana de Aviacion y Transportes, General Work Aviacion, Star Equatorial Airlines and EGAMS were eliminated, based on the evidence of their cessation of activity;
- in the case of Indonesia, they were added TransNusa Aviation Mandiri, Enggang Air Service, Surya Air, Ersa Eastern Aviation and Matthew Air Nusantara, recently certified in Indonesia, and Megantara was eliminated, based on evidence of cessation of activity;
- for Mauritania, added to the list Mauritania Airlines, and Mauritania Airways was eliminated because there was evidence of cessation of activity;
- companies have also been added to the list Aero Equipment Aviation Inc, AirAsia Philippines, Certeza Infosys Corp., Mid-Sea Express, Southern Air Flight Services, NorthSky Air Inc. and Island Helicopter Services in the Philippines.
The updated European list for air safety includes all 21 certified carriers of states, a total of 279 of registered carriers, whose operations are completely prohibited in the European Union: Afghanistan, Angola, Benin, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon (with the exception of three carriers operating flights with certain restrictions and under certain conditions), Indonezia (except six carriers), Kazahstan (except a carrier), Republic of Kargazstan, Liberia, Mauritania, Mozambique, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Sao Tome and Principe, Sudan, Swaziland and Zambia.
The list also includes five individual carriers: Blue Wing Airlines from Suriname, Meridian Airways from Ghana, Rollins Air from Honduras, Silverback Cargo Freighters from Rwanda and Conviasa from the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
In addition, the list includes 11 air carriers authorized to operate in the EU under strict conditions and subject to operating restrictions: Air Astana from Kazakhstan, Air Koryo from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Airlift International from Ghana, Air Service Comoros, Afrijet, Gabon Airlines and SN2AG from Gabon, Iran Air, TAAG Angolan Airlines, Air Madagascar and Jordan Aviation.
These companies can only be blacklisted if they solve security standards issues. In the field of civil aviation, there is no reduction in quality and services. It is a sensitive area and should be treated as such.
