Vietnamese airlines will be able to fly to the United States and enter into agreements with US carriers.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has stated that Southeast Asian countries comply with international safety standards.
The FAA has granted Vietnam the 1 category, which means that international safety standards are being met.
Flights between United States and Vietnam Airlines
Currently, there are no direct flights to the United States and Vietnam, although there is a huge potential for tourism and business. But Vietnam Airlines and Bamboo Airways have expressed their desire to fly to the United States.
Bamboo Airways President Trinh Van Quyet said Bamboo is considering destinations such as Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The routes could be inaugurated at the end of 2020 or at the beginning of the year 2021. The airline has ordered 20 for Boeing 787 long-haul aircraft.
Vietnam Airlines officials have not yet come forward with statements after the big news coming from the FAA. But there is information from 2018, in which a Vietnam Airlines official said there was interest in flights to the United States.
