On board the Airbus A318 plane, the TAROM pilot, Emil Dobrovolschi, was welcomed today, on the Bucharest airport runway, with a special salute given by water cannons. Flight RO642, carried out by him from Cluj-Napoca to the Capital, marks his official retirement from the activity.

With 15.000 flight hours and 30 years of experience in TAROM, Emil Dobrovolschi has become part of the history of the national air transport company.

His reception is the traditional way to celebrate and celebrate the work of a pilot. The ceremony was attended by colleagues, staff from Air Traffic and fire teams.

"I'm extremely emotional, they didn't tell me anything", confessed Emil Dobrovolschi, after landing. "It is an honor for me. TAROM is the place where I trained, the company has a very good training school and the quality is demonstrated at the European level. Together with five other Romanian pilots, I got the first European pilot's license from the time when Romania was not in the EU and neither was the company in the JAA", he added.

Employed since January 1994 in TAROM, Emil Dobrovolschi climbed all the steps of the professional hierarchy, from co-pilot on the Antonov 24 plane, aircraft commander and instructor on the ATR 42/72 plane, to commander and instructor-examiner Airbus 320 and Airbus 310, pilot of reception and control, and commander of special missions.

In 2004 he became a TRI (A) instructor pilot and since then those he has trained have gone on to become captains for at least 12 airlines around the world.

He is also an EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) certified TRE(A) Aircraft Type Senior Examiner pilot, which gave him the authority to decide whether pilots can continue to fly or are suspended from flying for a certain period . With extensive managerial experience, he has held various management positions in the TAROM company over the years, the most important being that of Flight Operations Director (2009-2011).

Asked about one of the most emotional moments in his flights, Emil Dobrovolschi marked the confidence and courage he instilled in passengers: "A lady wrote to me about the direct experience of a colleague's family. A family who couldn't sleep for several nights before their 14-year-old daughter's flight because they were afraid of the flight itself.

Until take-off, the child recorded the message I was sending to the passengers on the plane, because she immediately gained confidence, and the parents immediately felt the effect. I was glad that I could contribute to the peace of these people. I assure you that I will return and fly for TAROM as many times as I am needed, even after the moment of this withdrawal. I have put TAROMUL in front of the family many times and I will continue to do so."
