Eurowings is stepping up its operations in Berlin, where it will open a new base at Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) from 1 April 2021. Eurowings has already emphasized the importance of the new airport in the German capital and announced its intention to strengthen its position in Berlin. Berlin. The airline currently has three Airbus A320 aircraft at BER.

For decades, Lufthansa Group airlines have connected Berlin with the most important metropolises in Europe and the world, through the main Lufthansa hubs in Frankfurt and Munich. With the opening of the Berlin base, Eurowings is also reacting to the withdrawal of international competitors who left the German market as a result of the crisis. Since the airport opened in October 2020, Eurowings has already taken off from Berlin more than 1.000 times. In February 2021, every third departure from BER was a flight Eurowings.

"Berlin is and will remain an absolute tourist magnet and one of the most exciting metropolises in Europe, both culturally and historically."

Many pilots and flight attendants return to the capital.

Parking their own planes and Eurowings crews will create over a hundred direct jobs - and thus the possibility for many (former) Berliners to return home. Many pilots and flight attendants have been forced to leave the capital in recent years due to the insolvency of airlines or the withdrawal of several airlines.

With the opening of the Berlin base, Eurowings will reconnect the capital with Cologne, Düsseldorf and Stuttgart. There will be three flights a day - and on busier days, the frequency of flights may increase. The airline focuses mainly on peak hours, which are popular with travelers. Being the largest leisure airline in Germany, Eurowings has in the program the most popular holiday destinations: Mallorca, Canary Islands, Greece, Austria, Corsica, Croatia and Egypt.

The aircraft operated by Eurowings will be positioned preferentially at the northern pier of the new airport in the capital. Passengers will thus benefit from short distances to the boarding gate without bus transfers, but also from easy access to the Lufthansa lounge.
