Munich Airport is the only 5-star hub in Europe for years and is popular with Lufthansa passengers globally, not only as a gateway to Bavaria, but also as a top premium airport, which turns a simple journey into a unique experience.
Now, as the global tourism industry returns to previous levels of activity, Lufthansa is consolidating its premium services at Munich Airport and will once again offer first class on selected routes. This means that Lufthansa will temporarily reactivate five Airbus A340-600 aircraft that will operate long-haul flights, configured with four classes, including eight seats in First Class.
Prior to the pandemic, the Lufthansa fleet consisted of 17 Airbus A340-600 aircraft, 12 of which are for sale. Another five aircraft will be temporarily reactivated and sold at a later date.

Starting in the summer of 2022, AirbusA340-600 aircraft will fly from Munich, mainly to destinations in North America and Asia. The decision to reactivate these aircraft is due to increased demand for both business and leisure travel. At the end of summer 2023, the first Airbus A350-900 will join the fleet and take off from Munich, consolidating the premium offer at Lufthansa's 5-star hub.
Lufthansa continues to invest in modernizing its fleet. Last May, the Group acquired 10 state-of-the-art aircraft: 5 x Boeing 787-900 and 5 x A350-900. The first aircraft will be put into operation this winter. Only this year, Lufthansa will receive a new, fuel-efficient Airbus aircraft from the A320neo family every month. The delivery of an additional 107 Airbus A320neo aircraft is planned by 2027.
