Madrid - Male with Iberia, îstarting July 2. Iberia will operate flights to Male, in the Maldives, offering promotional fares from 639 euros / round trip to Economy class and 2.499 euros / round trip to Business Class. Holiday packages, which include flights, hotel and local transport, can be purchased from the airline's website, with prices starting at 1.099 euros.

Between July 2 and August 30, the Spanish airline will operate two weekly flights to Male, the capital of the Maldives, departing from Madrid on Mondays and Fridays, with return flights on Wednesdays and Sundays. Iberia will operate these flights using Airbus A330-200 aircraft, with a total capacity of 288 passengers, 19 seats in Business class and 269 seats in Economy class.

"This flight to the Maldives is the first destination of the Indian Ocean airline, which happens to be one of the safest destinations during a pandemic.", remarked Maria Jesús López Solás, Iberia's Sales Director. "Also, in recent years, Iberia has segmented the offer in order to be able to win customers and to prepare offers that are for all budgets", she added.

The big Spanish tour operators are preparing Maldives holiday packages.

The holiday package found on the Iberia website includes 9 days / 8 nights at the hotel, plus flight and local transport, from prices starting at 1.099 euros. It also includes a 25% discount on the normal hotel tax and the possibility to change the travel dates without further penalties or taxes.

The Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, said that he is working on a bill that will allow entry into the Maldives without a negative COVID-19 PCR test for those vaccinated and here it refers to vaccination with 2 or 3 doses, depending on the vaccine. More and more countries are allowing vaccinated people to enter those countries without an additional PCR test, which is the right time for the Maldives to make such decisions.
