Following discussions with the European Commission, 16 airlines agreed to pay financial arrears on passenger tickets affected by canceled flights and to better inform passengers when flights will be canceled. At the same time, vouchers will only be offered when passengers especially want them.
Aegean Airlines, Air Frances, Alitalia, Austrian Airlines, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Eeasyjet, Eurowings, Iberia, KLM, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Ryanair, TAP, Vueling and Wizz Air have decided to repay the amounts due to customers on time. who had flights canceled during the coronavirus pandemic, but also to better inform their passengers about flights canceled due to airlines.
The national authorities of each EU Member State are responsible for enforcing EU consumer protection laws. The EU Commission said this was the largest consumer protection cooperation action in the history of the CCP network and the first action to be based on an alert from the Commission.
