OFFICIAL: Austrian Airlines cancels several flights due to new measures taken by the Vienna government. See the list of affected flights!

From Thursday, July 16, 2020, flights from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Egypt, Kosovo, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Romania and Serbia to Austria will be suspended.

The measure comes as a result of the decision of the Vienna authorities from puts these countries on the COVID-19 high-risk list. At the same time, flights from the UK, Sweden and Ukraine remain suspended. The decree is valid until July 31, 2020.

Because of these bans, Austrian Airlines is obliged to cancel all flights between Vienna and the following destinations: Belgrade, Bucharest, Cairo, Kyiv, London, Podgorica, Pristina, Sarajevo, Sibiu, Skopje, Sofia, Stockholm, Tirana and Varna.

Due to the suspension of these flights, Austrian Airlines is sounding the alarm and mentioning that other flights will be affected. Most people traveling from the Balkans to Austria continued their journeys to distant destinations, such as the United States and Asia.

Andreas Otto, CCO Austrian Airlines, notes that travel bans for these countries - with extremely short notice - are a huge challenge for Austrian Airlines and passengers. It advocates a uniform and stable travel policy within the EU, with the aim of strengthening the Vienna hub on long-haul flights. We are looking for solutions for transit passengers!

Passengers whose flights have been canceled and who do not wish to use the booking options can request a refund using the online form on the Austrian Airlines website. Passengers who want to travel at a later date have various booking options and can plan their trip until the end of 2021.
