On 11 January 2017, Airbus announced the delivery of the first Airbus A321 Iran Air. It is part of it 100 order of aircraft, which was placed by Iran Air in December 2016. The delivery ceremony took place in Toulouse.

The aircraft Airbus A321-200 is configured in 2 classes and can carry up to 194 passengers: 12 seats at Business Class and 182 seats at Economy Class.

According to estimates, Iran Air could require up to 500 new aircraft to upgrade their fleet, but also to increase market needs. A country with 80 millions of inhabitants needs a fleet of modern aircraft. At the same time, by increasing the fleet, Iran Air could launch new domestic and international routes.
