It also had a positive evolution in aircraft traffic. They were recorded 475 624 aircraft movements, landings and take-offs. The increase was very small compared to 2017, when there were 474.033 aircraft movements. But there were airplanes with higher transport capacities.

80 million passengers served by London Heathrow Airport

In December, over 6.5 million passengers crossed the threshold, being the 26 consecutive month of growth for the main London airport.

London Heathrow Airport is said to have reached its maximum operating capacity. For several years, there have been discussions about possible expansion plans because there is a risk that they will not be able to cover the market demand.

At one time, British officials were discussing the construction of another airport to take over operations at Heathrow. However, it is much more realistic to plan the expansion of the current airport, a project that has already been voted by Parliament.
