Romaero, the state's strategic aerospace company, was ordered by the Bucharest Court of Appeal judges to pay a businessman nearly 17 million dollars in damages.
It got here, after a Boeing plane, which had to be modernized on the platform in Baneasa, will never get off the ground again, because the experts did not approve the transformations.
After five and a half years of debate, the Bucharest Court of Appeal forced Romaero to pay the businessman almost 17 million dollars. The respective could not use the Boeing 737-200 whose reconfiguration started in 2007 and lasted 6 years, informs stirileprotv.ro.
The aircraft, which is 43 years old and is registered in the United States, was bought for one million 200.000 euros. The owner took it to Romaero, the state's strategic company, to transform it.
The plane was painted, and armchairs, tables, and a kitchen with gilded fixtures appeared inside. It's just that the Americans from Boeing didn't give their approval for the upgrade, so the plane was no longer allowed to get off the ground.
Romaero now registers debts of over 700 million lei, including salary arrears to employees for the last four months.
The fate of the Romaero company now depends only on the supreme court. And a possible unfavorable verdict could bring the company closer to bankruptcy, because there is not such a large amount available in the accounts.
So, very likely two of the hangars on the platform in the vicinity of Baneasa airport could become the property of the businessman who lost the Boeing 737-200 plane. This while the third hangar would have already become the property of Hidroelectrica on account of energy debts.
