Ryanair, Europe's number 1 airline, announced today (April 4) that it had to revise its growth plan for Iași Airport in the 2024 summer season due to the airport's decision to increase fees by 25%.

Ryanair has invested heavily in Iași over the last 12 months, carrying over 250.000 passengers to/from Iași but unfortunately, as a result of the excessive increases in airport taxes, Ryanair will not increase activity in S24, this increase will instead be allocated to other airports in Romania, such as Cluj and Bucharest.

While airports all over Europe are reducing fares to ensure the increase in air passenger traffic, Iași Airport is raising fares by +25%, which is particularly bizarre. The decision to increase the fees comes at a time when a new terminal was opened to significantly increase the capacity of the airport in Iași.

These excessive fees make Iași airport no longer competitive and mean that the city and the region will lose connectivity in the coming years.

Ryanair calls on Iași Airport to reduce fares and make Iași competitive again so that airlines can provide the connectivity and increase in passenger numbers that the city and its citizens urgently need.
