SilkAir, a subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, and Boeing have signed a contract for 54 Boeing 737 Next Generation aircraft - 23 737-800 aircraft and 31 737 MAX8 aircraft. The order is valued at $ 4.9 billion, taking into account the list price.

This is the largest order in SilkAir's history and starts the fleet migration to Boeing. Currently, the Singapore operator operates 22 Airbus aircraft to 42 destinations in 12 countries.

SilkAir's order propels the Boeing 737 series to a new record. It is for the first time in the history of aircraft manufacturers, when a single-aisle aircraft records orders over 1000 units in a year. 737 has broken its own record since 2007 when it was ordered over 846 by aircraft.
