I found out today, with astonishment, that Spanair has ceased its activity. It seems that everything happened suddenly, hundreds of passengers being stuck on the ground at several Spanish airports. The crisis has spoken in the region of Catalonia, the shareholder of Spanair.

"Faced with a lack of financial vision for the coming months, the company has decided to cease operations," Spanair said in a statement issued on Friday, shortly before 21.30pm (22.30pm Romanian time).

On Saturday, 55 flights were canceled in Madrid, 54 in Barcelona and one on the islands of Mallorca and Gran Canaria, according to statements made by an AENA spokeswoman (Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegación Aérea). And more rumors say that 22 000 has been affected by people, figures not yet confirmed by Spanair.

"Spanair's management regrets this situation and apologizes to all those affected," the company said in a statement.

If you have tickets to Spanair, the company has posted a statement on the official site with all the useful information and contact details for Customer Service.
