On 20 January 2016, Lufthansa received the first Airbus A320neo from the history of aviation, the company, the aircraft manufacturer. D-AINA registered, the aircraft A320neo operated the delivery flight (LH9922) on 22 January 2016, taking off from the German Airbus base, Hamburg-Finkenwerder, bound for Frankfurt. The first commercial flight (LH010) was operated on Sunday, January 24, 2016, on the route Frankfurt - Hamburg.

The A320neo aircraft comes with state-of-the-art engines, which benefit from improved aerodynamics. Thus, the new PW1100G engines offer a 15% reduction in fuel consumption, but also a considerable reduction in noise compared to the engines fitted to the A320 family aircraft.
This year, Lufthansa will receive another 4 A320neo aircraft. For starters, new aircraft will fly on domestic routes.
