On 24 March, the first Airbus A350-900 Cathay Pacific (B-LRA) successfully operated the first flight. It was operated from Toulouse.

This is the first A350 XWB from an order of 48 units (22 x A350-900 and 26 x A350-1000) placed by Cathay Pacific. The aircraft will be operated on medium and long routes, with Cathay Pacific having the opportunity to increase the quality of services on its routes.

Airlines in the Asia-Pacific area have ordered 241 from A350 XWB aircraft, accounting for one-third of all orders recorded by the new widebody aircraft type.

The new A350 XWB aircraft feature the latest aerodynamic design, a carbon fiber fuselage structure, and the new Rolls-Royce Trent XWB engines. The new facilities result in a fuel consumption of 25% lower compared to similar aircraft.
