Virgin Galactic will perform another test flight with the SpaceShipTwo Unity spacecraft

California-based Virgin Galactic has confirmed the date of the next test flight of its spacecraft, SpaceShipTwo Unity (VVS Unity), for May 22, 2021, depending on weather conditions and technical checks.

The next flight will evaluate the horizontal stabilizers and the updated flight controls and test the live stream capacity of the spacecraft. The company also aims to evaluate some elements of the cabin and test the updates that have been made on VVS Unity to reduce the impact of electromagnetic interference (EMI) levels.

Virgin Galactic will perform another test flight with the SpaceShipTwo Unity spacecraft on May 22nd.

According to the Virgin Galactic statement, the parent ship VVS Unity VMS Eve will take the ship to an altitude of about 50.000 feet. As part of the NASA Flight Opportunities program, the spacecraft will have two pilots on board and will carry research materials. After the planned test flight, the Virgin Galactic team intends to complete an extensive data analysis and schedule additional steps in the test flight schedule.

In February 2019, Virgin Galactic began making changes to VSS Unity, which included the installation of a passenger cabin as well as changes to the cockpit displays. The final changes to the commercial booth were completed in July 2020.
