On April 16, 2021, Wizz Air requested approval for flights from Cluj, Iasi and Bucharest to Antalya. According to requests before Wizz Air, the 3 routes will be seasonal, with potential flights between June 12 and October 26. All 3 routes will be honored with two weekly flights, operated with 320-seat Airbus A180 aircraft registered in Hungary. Below you have the 3 requests before Wizz Air to the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
According to the information provided by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, air carriers established in Romania are invited to submit applications within 15 days of the publication of this announcement to be designated for operation on the routes: Bucharest - Antalya and return, Cluj - Antalya and return, Iași - Antalya and return.
The applications will contain the information provided in Art.3, par. 5 of the Regulation on the designation of Community air carriers for the operation of air services in accordance with the provisions of agreements on air services concluded by Romania with non-member states of the European Union, approved by UNWTO no. 269/2007.
It remains to be seen whether these requests will materialize and we are curious if Blue Air, TAROM, Animawings will be interested in operating frequent flights on these routes. So far, all flights operated from Romania to Antalya have had charter flight status.
