As governments and industry leaders around the world meet at the COP26 conference, today marks another important milestone for Wizz Air in its continued investment in Europe's latest and most sustainable fleets.

The airline will now operate a full fleet of Airbus A321neos at its base in Vienna - showcasing this state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient technology. This will be the third market in which Wizz Air will move to a complete fleet of Airbus A320neo aircraft, after previous investments in this technology in Italy and Abu Dhabi.

At Wizz Air, sustainability has always been a key element of the business model, and this mindset is reflected in the airline's day-to-day operations and the company's sustainable and planned growth.

Wizz Air is committed to developing its fleet with the modern Airbus A320neo family of aircraft, which offer unbeatable fuel efficiency, excellent aerodynamics and are equipped with sharklets to further reduce the resistance to wing interference. This state-of-the-art aircraft produces 43% less noise and 50% less NOx emissions compared to the previous generation of aircraft.

The airline's current fleet has an average age of 5,1 years, making it one of the newest and most efficient fleets in the world. This, along with a network that avoids unnecessary connecting flights and lighter materials used for the cabin, is what makes Wizz Air operations so efficient.

In addition, Wizz Air continues to have the lowest CO2 / passenger / km emissions of all European airlines, at 57,3 g / km / passenger. This is another signal that confirms the continuous decrease in CO emissions2 of the company and its commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its operations, positioning Wizz Air as one of the most sustainable airlines in Europe.

If every airline in Europe flew the same modern and efficient fleet as Wizz Air and operated them the way Wizz Air does, then the industry's CO2 emissions would be reduced by 34% overnight.

The airline is committed to providing customers with the lowest fares and making air travel more sustainable for more people, as it believes that it is not the number of flights that matters, but the total carbon emissions.

Wizz Air is also focusing on promoting many other carbon reduction initiatives as part of its ongoing commitment to reduce its carbon emissions by 25% by 2030.

These include dozens of fuel-saving initiatives, such as the development of a model for estimating zero fuel weight (ZFW), the elimination of unnecessary additional fuel due to flight planning system optimizations and the introduction of more precise performance factors, for a more accurate forecast of fuel consumption, as well as the introduction of an electronic Flight Bag.

Looking to the future, we are pleased to see that the ATI Fly Zero program demonstrates that there is a tangible future for zero-emission hydrogen aircraft and that Airbus believes that hydrogen is the road to its goal of bringing a zero-emission commercial aircraft to market. decade.

We are committed to continuing to invest in the latest aviation technologies, especially hydrogen-powered aircraft, which will provide a long-term solution to help the industry achieve its goals of net neutrality.
