Inauguration of 7 based Wizz Air in Romania, in Sibiu

Wizz Air celebrate today the opening of the 7 base in Romania, Sibiu and introduction a 4 new routes from Sibiu to Nuremberg, Madrid, Milan Bergamo and Munich Memmingen.

With the 4 new flights, which start this weekend, WIZZ increases the number of routes operated from Sibiu International Airport to six. It also allocates an efficient Airbus A320 aircraft to the newest base, and the investment is 98 million euros (the list price of the Airbus A320 aircraft).

The first WIZZ flight departed from Bucharest in January 2007, and since then the company has constantly developed its network of low-fare routes for passengers in Romania. The airline currently offers 119 routes to 18 countries from 9 Romanian airports. WIZZ operations not only provide easy and cheap access from Romania to the rest of Europe, but also support the labor market in aviation and tourism. Over 600 of Wizz Air employees work in Romania. At the same time, more than 3.300 jobs were created in the complementary fields of the country.

The airline is constantly investing in operations in Romania and will grow the fleet at 20 aircraft by the end of the year, including 2016 new, ultra-efficient Airbus A4 aircraft with 321 seats. This demonstrates the WIZZ commitment to Romania.

Wizz Air starts new flights from Sibiu to Nuremberg on 19 August, with 3 weekly flights, to Milan Bergamo and Madrid on 20 August, and to Munich Memmingen on 21 August, with 2 flights / week each. On August 19, Wizz Air will also start operating the second route from the ninth Romanian airport, Suceava, to London Luton, with 4 flights / week.
