Safety has long been a major concern for travelers when it comes to deciding which destination to visit. The world has been turned upside down in recent years due to the global pandemic and the notion of "safety" has changed significantly.

The Economist Intelligence Unit has created a list of the 60 safest international destinations in terms of digital security, health security, infrastructure, personal security, and environmental security, a new category that has been included this year.

While Asian cities such as Tokyo, Singapore and Osaka have continuously occupied the first places, year after year, a European destination holds the first position in this top in 2021.
Copenhagen was named - for the first time - the safest city in the world, obtaining 82.4 points out of 100, in the annual report. The capital of Denmark jumped from 8th place in 2019 to the top of the list, largely due to the introduction of a new environmental safety section, where the city achieved an excellent score.
