After 21 months, Australians can say "Aloha!" as Hawaiian Airlines resumes its non-stop service from Sydney to Honolulu.
The airline confirmed in a press release that, as of December 13, 2021, it was resuming its flights between Sydney Kingsford Smith (SYD) in Australia and Daniel K. Inouye (HNL) in Honolulu. For starters, up to five flights a week will be operated.
Flight HA451 will start flying from December 13, 2021, on Mondays and Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays. Starting with December 15, 2021, flight HA452 will depart from Sydney on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays.
The Sydney-Honolulu route, which has a flight time of over 10 hours, will be served by the 330-seat Airbus A278. It has 18 business class seats, 68 "Comfort Economy" seats and 192 standard Economy seats.
In a press release, Andrew Stanbury, regional director of Hawaiian Airlines for Australia and New Zealand, said: "We are excited to reconnect Hawaii and Australia, and are encouraged by the public response to Australia's national vaccination program, which has allowed the borders to reopen.".
Hawaiian Airlines began flying to Sydney-Honolulu in May 2004. The route between Honolulu and Brisbane, launched in November 2012, is still pending.
