Italy has extended the period of application of the mandatory quarantine for Romanians until October 15.

Today, the Italian government approved the new legislative decree on the COVID-19 pandemic. It does not bring good news for Romanians. The period of application of the mandatory quarantine for Romanians has been extended until October 15, according to www.fanpage.it and www.corriere.it via www.imperatortravel.ro.

14-day isolation in Italy

With effect from 24 July 2020, persons who have been or transited the territory of Romania and Bulgaria in the last 14 days prior to arrival in Italy are subject to the obligation of self-isolation and medical supervision for a period of 14 days. The Italian authorities have decided to extend the application of these measures until 15 October.
From 9 July, anyone entering Italy from abroad is obliged to present to the carrier or police forces in case of control, a statement on one's own responsibility.
In the case of persons arriving from Romania, they will have to specify in detail in the declaration on their own responsibility the place where they will spend the period of sanitary surveillance and isolation at home, the private means of transport through which they will go to that address and a telephone number. at which they can be contacted during this period (including a mobile phone number). Carriers must also measure the temperature of the passengers and prevent the journey of those found with a fever.

The mask becomes mandatory in the open air

Therefore, the new decree confirms the existing anti-COVID measures, but also brings other rules. As for the masks, they must also be worn outdoors, not just in public places indoors and in means of transport.

This applies to the entire national territory of Italy. In the decree, the government establishes “the obligation to always have respiratory protection with you, with the possibility of using them in indoor places accessible to the public, including means of transport and in all outdoor places when you are around other people. Children under the age of six, people with pathologies that are not compatible with the use of the mask and those who carry out sports activities are excluded from the rule.

At the same time, controls will be intensified and fines will be tightened. Those caught without a mask risk fines of between 400 and 1000 EURO. Penalties that become even more severe for those who violate the quarantine: they range from 500 to 5000 euros with arrest from 3 to 18 months. Even public units that do not comply with anti-COVID rules risk severe sanctions: a fine of 400 to 1000 euros, plus the closure of the premises from 5 to 30 days.
