Romania will participate in Expo 2020 Dubai with a stand of 1000 sqm

The General Commissioner of the Romanian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, Ferdinand Nagy, held on Monday, September 20, 2021, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a press conference in which he presented the main objectives of national participation in the world exhibition to be held during October 1, 2021 - March 31, 2022, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The new edition of the world exhibition takes place under the motto "Connecting Minds, Creating the Future" and brings together the participation of 190 states and international organizations, expecting a flow of 25 million visitors.

Commissioner General Nagy stressed that Romania's participation in this international event aims to bring to the attention of the general public the potential of our country in science, innovation, research and technology, as well as its economic, cultural and tourist opportunities, along with Romanian cultural and scientific history. .

At the same time, the active profile of Romania in the field of sports and climate diplomacy will be presented, as well as the important contribution to the identification of innovative and efficient means for solving global problems at international level.

Thus, the main elements that support Romania's presence in the world exhibition were communicated, starting from the main theme of the national flag, "New Nature”, Being underlined the stages completed so far, as well as the expected results.

The concept of the Romanian pavilion aims to present to visitors a more coherent image of the set of inter-relationships between the environment, resources, people and communities, which can ensure a balanced structure, an ideal dynamic, a good functioning and new opportunities for sustainable development. , both local and regional, as well as global.

The Romanian Pavilion, with an area of ​​approximately 1.000 square meters, symbolically illustrates the works of Romanian creators in the fields of art and scientific research, such as Constantin Brâncuși, George Enescu, Grigore Antipa and Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen.

It will include and interconnect a series of secondary themes: tourism, water, technology and education, representative components for Romania, illustrated in a new perspective. During the conference, the main sections of the national pavilion were briefly presented: CONCEPT & MANIFEST, DESIGN & TRADITION, NATURAL SPOTLIGHT, H2RO. The Pavilion project is based on a dynamic approach, integrating alternative and complementary ways of communicating with the public, with multimedia playing an essential role.

With a multi-annual participation budget (2019 - 2022) worth 26 lei, the Romanian Pavilion at Expo 764 Dubai will host an intense program of bilateral political contacts, as well as numerous events dedicated to economic, cultural and tourism promotion, positioning our country internationally as a dynamic promoter of information exchange, technological solutions or good practices.

Present at the press conference, the architect Adrian Soare, the representative of the architecture company, author of the project "New Nature", Cumulus Architecture, and Andrei Popea, the representative of the company Backstage Production Group International, the developer of thematic content, video / audio / multimedia, present in VTC system from the exhibition site, highlighted the technical and artistic aspects, which make this project a representative for our country.

The architect of the pavilion also specified that, in support of the curatorial concept, the architectural project involves an ecological approach, through the use of recycled and recyclable materials. The design created in simple and clean lines, inspired by the works of the Romanian sculptor Constantin Brâncuși, is intended to be a statement for sustainability and environmental protection.

The event with maximum visibility for our country's participation in the world exhibition is the celebration Romania Day, scheduled for March 1 2022, on which occasion Romania will be represented by a high-level delegation. On this occasion, the Romanian Pavilion will host an economic forum and an extensive program of cultural and artistic events.

Romania has participated in the last 30 years in all world and international exhibitions organized under the auspices of the International Bureau of Exhibitions (BIE): Seville (Spain) 1992; Taejon (Republic of Korea) 1993; Lisbon (Portugal); 1998, Hanover (Germany) 2000; Aichi (Japan) 2005; Zaragoza (Spain) 2008; Shanghai (Chinese PR) 2010; Yeosu (Republic of Korea) 2012; Milan (Italy) 2015 and Astana (Kazakhstan) 2017.

In accordance with the provisions of GD no. 241/2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has the role to carry out the activities related to the preparation of Romania's participation in the Dubai 2020 world exhibition and to manage the current activity, during the exhibition, as well as during the preparation of the opening or disassembly of the national flag.

The governmental decision approved the position of our country to agree with the one-year delay of the exhibition - in the context of the COVID -19 epidemic, keeping the same name, a decision adopted by the General Assembly of the International Bureau of Exhibitions, whereby it is established that Expo Dubai will take place between October 1, 2021 - March 31, 2022.
