Since April 1, a detachment consisting of approximately 40 soldiers and 3 F16MLU aircraft from the 86th Borcea Air Base "Lieutenant Aviator Gheorghe Mociorniţă" is deployed in Andravida Air Base, Greece. In the next 3 weeks the soldiers will participate in a multinational exercise organized and planned by the Hellenic Air Force called INIOCHOS-24.
Exercise "INIOCHOS" is a major annual training event of the Hellenic Air Force, which takes place at the Air Tactical Center of the Andravida Air Base in northwestern Greece. Along with the air capabilities of the host country, this year aircraft from Saudi Arabia, Cyprus, France, Great Britain, Montenegro, Qatar, Romania, Spain and the USA are participating in the exercise.
The Air Forces of 14 countries will be involved in this exercise, which will have the possibility of training and operational integration in a complex and realistic combat scenario.
Held over a period of 15 days, "INIOCHOS 24" includes flights in the Athens FIR (Flight Information Region) airspace. The exercise focuses on training for the execution of "Combined Air Operations" as well as improving operational procedures.
This exercise, the multiple air, land and naval platforms, as well as the planned flight missions will represent an excellent opportunity for raising the level of training and interoperability of the personnel of the 86th Air Base "Lieutenant Aviator Gheorghe Mociorniţă".
