The 55th edition of the Super Bowl was opened by the parade of three American bombers (Video)
The 7th edition of the Super Bowl in the history of American football took place on February 55th. The Super Bowl, in professional American football, is the championship match of the National Football League. The match together with the related festivities make up the Super Bowl on Sunday. It has become the most watched television program in the United States and is like a national holiday. At the same time, the most expensive commercials are broadcast in the Super Bowl. At this year's edition, 30 seconds of advertising cost $ 5.6 million.
But this article is not about the Super Bowl match, but about the parade of the three American bombers, who plowed the sky in the opening of the Super Bowl.
For the first time, the traditional aircraft overflight at the final of the American football championship was led by a woman, more precisely by the captain Sarah "Gucci" Kociuba, from the American Air Force, USAF.
Sarah Kociuba, codenamed "Gucci", flew the aircraft Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit. Boeing B-2 Spirit is an American strategic stealth bomber that can launch both regular bombs and nuclear bombs.
On the day of the match, Kociuba took off from Whiteman Air Force Base and joined two other bombers, one from South Dakota and one from North Dakota. The meeting took place over the Gulf of Mexico, outside Tampa airspace.
Another bomber present at the parade was Rockwell B-1 Lancer, the fastest bomber in the United States. It was built to be literally the spearhead in the attacks launched by the US Air Force.
He was the 3rd bomber Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, a strategic, subsonic, long-range jet bomber. Soon, this plane will turn 70 years old from the first flight and shows no signs of retirement.
This was the first time the three American bombers flew in formation to a public presentation. The choice of this Super Bowl was not a coincidence. It was the 55th edition of the Super Bowl, ie the sum of the three bombers (B1 + B2 + B52).
