An Atlas Air Boeing 747-8F returned to Miami airport shortly after takeoff due to a problem with one of its engines.

An Atlas Air Boeing 747-8F with registration number N859GT was forced to return to Miami International Airport shortly after departure. In some videos captured by witnesses, one of the engines could be seen on fire, possibly indicating a compressor "stall".

The aircraft was operating the flight from Miami to San Juan Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU) in Puerto Rico. It took off at 22:32 local time (UTC -5) on the morning of Friday, January 19.

The pilots informed Air Traffic Control that engine two was in trouble. Because of this engine problem, the Boeing 747-8F flew for only 13 minutes, landing safely at Miami airport at 22:45 p.m. The five crew members were not injured.
