A Bombardier CL-600-2B16 Challenger 604 crashed in Florida!

On February 9, 2024, Bombardier CL-600-2B16 Challenger 604, operating flight HPJ823, was destroyed in a forced landing on a Florida highway 5 km northeast of Naples Airport (APF/KAPF), Naples , Florida.
Two of the five occupants died.

The aircraft was near Naples Airport (APF/KAPF), Florida, when the crew radioed that they had lost both engines and were unable to reach the runway. The aircraft struck a truck during landing and burst into flames when it came to rest in a concrete wall on the southbound side of the lanes.

The victims were identified as pilot Edward Daniel Murphy, 50, of Oakland Park, Fla., and pilot Ian Frederick Hofmann, 65, of Pompano Beach, Fla., the office said Saturday afternoon to the sheriff of Collier.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and the Collier County Sheriff's Office confirmed that two people died in the plane crash.

Naples resident Jinny Johnson came upon the accident just minutes after it happened while she was heading north on I-75 around 15:20 p.m.
