Aeroflot introduces Wi-Fi on 26 of long-courier aircraft
Aeroflot, one of the largest airlines in Russia, has big plans for 2013. He wants to equip 26 of long-courier aircraft with Wi-Fi devices until the end of 2013. The project is part of the company's development strategy. Vitaly Saveliev, Aeroflot CEO, said that this action has two objectives: to introduce technology in all spheres of the company and to enter the list of global carriers that offer these facilities on board aircraft.
Internet service will be available on 22 aircraft Airbus A330 and 4 aircraft Boeing 777, that by the end of the year. In Q1 2013, passengers will enjoy wi-fi technology on only 15 aircraft (12 Airbus 330 and 3 Boeing 777). Things are moving pretty fast. According to the information, the technology has already been installed and tested on 5 A330: VQ-BPI "L. Yashin", VQ-BPK "I. Kulibin", VP-BDD "A. Mojaiskiy", VP-BDE "L. Kantorovich", VQ-BPJ "V.Brumel".
The program will continue after 2013. Aeroflot plans show that another 12 Boeing 777 aircraft will be equipped with wi-fi by 2016. The Russian carrier is developing this project together with OnAir - a major provider of connectivity, IT services and uses Inmarsat satellite networks .
