Air Canada has announced that it plans to purchase 30 hybrid-electric aircraft from Sweden's Heart Aerospace, with the deal also providing for a $5 million equity contribution to the manufacturer.

The ES-30 aircraft is expected to enter service in 2028. It will be able to accommodate up to 30 passengers and have a range of up to 200 km when powered solely by the aircraft's batteries.

The range can be extended to 400 km with additional power from hybrid generators that can use SAF. If the aircraft were loaded with only 25 passengers, the range could reach up to 800 km.
