On Fridays, 26 May 2012, Air Moldova Airline and Blue Air low-cost airline have signed a partnership on operating low-cost flights to 50 European destinations.

The signed document provides for three stages of collaboration based on the "low-cost" principles. It is about providing passengers with reduced prices for Blue Air tickets, which can be purchased from all Air Moldova and Blue Air sales systems, renegotiating ground service contracts with all airports in Italy and arranging a new Blue Air passenger terminal in Chisinau International Airport.

The Minister of Transport and Road Infrastructure, Anatol Șalaru said that this agreement was reached as a result of a series of negotiations with Blue Air representatives in order to ensure the increased interest of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova towards quality air services and low prices.

Anatol Șalaru said that from 15 June 2012, the list of prices and destinations will be published, and then the first low-cost airline flights to 3 main cities in Italy will be made.

In the same context, the General Director of Blue Air, Sheriff Ussama explained that on the Chisinau-Madrid destination with a stopover in Bucharest, the cost of a ticket will be 100 euros, all airport taxes are included in the price.

It should be mentioned that, until the operation of the new dedicated Blue Air terminal at Chisinau airport, the flights will be operated from the capital of Moldova by Air Moldova aircrafts with stops on Otopeni in Bucharest or in Bacau, from where passengers will be taken by Blue Air aircraft for transport to destinations in Europe.

Blue Air is the first airline with private capital 100%, which launched low cost flights in Romania and currently owns over 40% of the Romanian low cost market. The Blue Air fleet consists of 18 Boeing-type aircraft, with capacities between 126 and 170 seats.

It is interesting to see what will happen at the Chisinau airport. Carpatair will operate direct flights from Chisinau to Italy from June. TAROM has introduced new frequencies to Chisinau
