Alaska Airlines introduces the first Boeing 737-900ER into service

Alaska Airlines took possession of the first Boeing 737-900ER and operated the first commercial flight. The flight was on the route Seattle - San Diego. The aircraft competes with the Airbus A321. It carries up to 200 passengers, has greater autonomy and offers extra passenger comfort.

Alaska Airlines plans to enrich its fleet with 38 737-900ER aircraft. It will still receive 3 by the end of this year and another 9 in 2013. The 38 will arrive in the 2017. Alaska Airlines has a fleet of 121 of 737 Boeing and operates flights to 91 from destinations. The planes are used on transcontinental routes in the USA and Hawaii. Boeing 737-900ER Alaska is configured in 2 classes, with 16 seats in Business and 165 in Economic. All 737-900ER aircraft ordered will come equipped with Boeing Sky Interior.

right Alaska Airlines, the new lighter seats will save about 8000 liters of fuel / year per aircraft.
