On 10 June 2013, at the invitation Canon Romania, I was happy to go to the bear reservation from Zărneşti. I heard about the Libearty Sanctuary Zărneşti some time ago, but I didn't care much. My desire was to discover the reservation right from the spot, among the bears and their stories, and this was fulfilled.
On Monday morning, together with several bloggers and journalists, we left Bucharest for the country of bears. I took the camera with me CANON 1100D + Canon EF 70-200mm f / 4L IS USM (image stabilization), although we knew about the equipment that was waiting for us at the destination. Once there, we were greeted by Canon Romania officials and Canon Ambassador Brutus Östling, one of the best photographers specialized in wildlife photography. But also from a wide range of cameras and telephoto lenses. I chose one CANON 5D Mark III and the telephoto lens Canon EF 300mm f / 2.8 L IS II USM. I was curious to see what it is like to work with such professional equipment, not at all easy and not very affordable. I chose this telephoto because the bears will stay longer in the woods and I will have to photograph them from a distance, but I was wrong. You will be surprised to see them very close to the cards.
Libearty Zărneşti Bears Reservation covers an area of approximately 70 hectares and is home to 73 bears. Our guide, sir Liviu Cioineag, the manager of the Libearty sanctuary (click for more information on Libearty Zărneşti), told us that this reservation represents the 5 all-inclusive resort for bears. We found 3 very large reeds that can accommodate up to 20-30 bears each, but also 5 smaller reeds for different reintegration programs.
The stories of the bears are extremely sad. Most of them come from different zoos and circuses. You will see that many still "show up", but it is an imaginary one. They were left with mental trauma, physical injuries, but their drama was over. to Libearty Zărneşti they found the peace for a better life.

The Libearty Zărneşti Bears Reservation can be reached by car, preferably a field car and it is approximately 185 km from Bucharest, somewhere between Râşnov and Zărneşti.
