Today, February 21, 2020, Qatar Airways has donated medical equipment to prevent the spread of the coronavirus epidemic in China. 2.5 million face masks and 500 bottles with hand sanitizer were transported.

In total, 300 tons of medical equipment arrived in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou. For the transportation of medical equipment, Qatar Airways used 5 cargo aircraft: 2 x Boeing 747F (A7-BGA and A7-BGB) and 3 x Boeing 777F (A7-BFA, A7-BFC, A7-BFP).

The 5 planes took off from Hamad International Airport, Doha, 4 minutes away from each other. The two Boeing 2F aircraft arrived in Beijing, while two Boeing 747F (A2-BFC, A777-BFP) aircraft arrived in Shanghai, and the Boeing 7F A7-BFA aircraft donated to Guangzhou.

The whole operation was organized and executed in the presence of Qatar Airways Group Managing Director, His Excellency, Mr. Akbar Al Baker. The Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the State of Qatar, HE Zhou Jian, also participated.

Since the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic, Qatar has made donations to China. On February 2, 2020, 100.000 N95 respiratory masks and 2.700 disposable latex gloves were transported to Shanghai.

Qatar Airways works with the World Health Organization and local authorities to protect the health and safety of employees and passengers. Its modern fleet is protected with HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filtration systems, eliminating 99,97% of the fine particles in the air circulation in the cabins, greatly restricting the spread of fungi, viruses and bacteria.

Qatar Airways operates a modern fleet of over 250 aircraft. The operational network is made up of over 170 destinations worldwide. By 2020, Qatar Airways will expand to the following destinations: Osaka, Japan; Santorini, Greece; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Almaty and Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan; Accra, Ghana; Cebu, Philippines; Lyon, France; Trabzon, Turkey; Siem Reap, Cambodia and Luanda, Angola.
