The airline company Dan Air announces that it will give up flights from the Brașov airport, due to the decision of the Brașov airport to postpone the extension of the operating schedule for January 2024.

The company is organizing a press conference tomorrow, November 1, when it will announce more details regarding the decision to stop operations from Brașov and the plans to expand and operate exclusively at Bacău airport.

"DAN AIR announces the cessation of operations from Braşov and the transfer of flights to Bacău airport", the airline transmits on Tuesday, the announcement being made in the context in which the authorities in Braşov announced that they are postponing the extension of the airport's operating schedule for January 2024, informs bizbrasov.ro.

On September 25, the Romanian company published data according to which it suffered losses of 2,6 million euros due to the only 12-hour schedule in which the airport in Brasov operates.

At that time, DAN AIR officials sent a letter to the Romanian authorities regarding the operationalization of the Braşov airport in order to extend the working hours of the airport open to the public on June 15, 2023.

According to it, the schedule of only 12 hours is the consequence of the lack of air traffic controllers - ROMATSA to ensure the necessary services for the Brasov airport to function 24/7. This reduced schedule restricts the air operators to be able to carry out their activity properly and to guarantee the passengers that they will reach their final destination.

Due to this limited work schedule, DAN AIR and other air operators were forced to land at other airports because the Braşov airport closes according to the work schedule. According to the company, these situations generate great discomfort for passengers and generate significant losses for air operators.

On Monday, October 30, the Braşov County Council announced that the schedule of the Braşov-Ghimbav International Airport will be extended to 16 hours, in the interval 07:00-23:00, starting from January 15, 2024, a decision in this sense being agreed by mutual consent, during a meeting that took place on Monday, at the headquarters of the Romanian Air Traffic Services Administration ROMATSA RA, in the presence of Brasov officials and the heads of the authorities that regulate the aeronautical field in Romania.
