On the evening of July 24, the newest airline in the Lufthansa Group took flight. This is Eurowings Discover. The inaugural flight was 4Y134, on the route Frankfurt - Mombasa - Zanzibar! Eurowings Discover is the only European airline that flies directly to Mombasa. The captain of the inaugural flight was Wolfgang Raebiger, who is also the CEO of Eurowings Discover.
Eurowings Discover operated the first commercial flight
The new airline specializes in long-haul charter flights. He received the AOC on June 16, 2021 and has already started operating flights under flight code 4Y.
The inaugural flight 4Y134 was operated with the Airbus A330-200 aircraft, configured in three fare classes: 22 seats for busines, 31 seats for premium economy and 217 seats for economy. The economy rate will include all meals and soft drinks. Business passengers will have all alcoholic beverages included, while Premium Economy passengers will have a choice of a few varieties of beer and wine.
All passengers will enjoy a FREE entertainment program that will include 50 movies, 80 TV shows and numerous songs. Each passenger will be able to connect to the entertainment system through the flat screens placed on the seats or through their own device, with the Onboard-Cloud function. They will also be able to access online magazines and games for relaxation.
Destinations Eurowings Discover
In addition to flights to Mombasas and Zanzibar, Eurowings Discover will fly to Punta Cana (August 9) and Windhoek (August 10). From September, the new airline will fly from Frankfurt to Las Vegas, and from October it will also have flights to Mauritius. Bridgetown (November 1), Cancun (November 1), Varadero (November 2) and Montego Bay (November 3) will also be added to the 2021-2022 winter program.
Eurowings Discover will also operate medium-haul flights from Frakfurt to the Canary Islands Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Tenerife, as well as to Hurghada and Marsa Alam in Egypt and Marrakech in Morocco.
