The Air France-KLM group announces new routes in its portfolio this autumn. See the new destinations!
The elimination of restrictions for those vaccinated and much lighter conditions for travel to many of the world's key holiday destinations have led to an increase in the number of bookings and, implicitly, of flights similar to 2019.
The pandemic has also broadened the horizons of tourists regarding the potential destinations where they can spend their holidays, so that, lately, more and more people are turning their attention to exotic locations.
As a result, for the 2021 winter season, the Air France-KLM group announces the introduction of new routes in their network, mainly to beach destinations around the world, departing from Paris - Charles de Gaulle and Amsterdam - Schiphol, respectively.
City break destinations replaced with beach vacations
Given the changes in consumption habits observed worldwide and the predilection for beach stays in exotic destinations, for the winter season 2021 (October 2021 - March 2022), the Air France - KLM group announces the introduction of new routes in the existing network, as well as the resumption flights that had been stopped in the context of the pandemic.
Zanzibar, Mombasa and Colombo, among the new destinations operated by Air France and KLM
Starting October 18, 2021, Air France will fly with a frequency of 2 flights per week to Zanzibar, in Tanzania, a continuation of the flight to Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. The flights will be operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft, just like those to Colombo, Sri Lanka, where Air France will fly 3 times a week starting November 1, 2021, as a continuation of the flight to Male, Maldives.
At the same time, in an attempt to strengthen its position in the Middle East, Air France will operate three weekly frequencies to Muscat, in Oman, starting with October 31, 2021, while to Dubai there will be up to 14 weekly flights starting with October 23, 2021.
Air France is also responding positively to the strong demand from French Polynesia, so that, starting November 3, 2021, the airline will offer up to 5 frequencies to Papeete, as a continuation of the flight to Los Angeles, flights that will be operated with Boeing 777-200 aircraft.
Last but not least, since the end of October, Air France has also increased the frequency of flights operated to Miami, so there will be up to 12 flights a week to this destination, the routes being operated with Boeing 777-300 and Airbus A350 aircraft.
On the other hand, the partners of KLM, the airline that made the first flight in the world powered by synthetic fuel earlier this year, are expanding their network with six new intercontinental destinations, namely Mombasa (Kenya) - two flights a week; Orlando (USA) - four flights a week; Cancun (Mexico); Bridgetown (Barbados - Caribbean); Port of Spain (Trinidad & Tobago - Caribbean) - three weekly flights to each of these three destinations and Phuket (Thailand), where it will fly four times a week with a Boeing 777-300 aircraft.
Free change of travel dates for Air France - KLM flights until 31 December 2021
The representatives of the Air France-KLM group wanted to point out that any of these flights can be modified and remains subject to the restrictions in force in each country and region served. Thus, before making a trip, passengers are advised to check the entry and travel requirements for destination and transit countries, which are often subject to sudden changes amid the still fairly persistent COVID-19 epidemic.
In order to protect its passengers from any inconvenience caused by the changes brought by COVID, the commercial policies of Air France and KLM are much more flexible and involve free change of travel dates until the end of the current year, as well as full refund in case of cancellation or offering a bonus voucher based on which tickets and services can be purchased at other destinations. Even this voucher can later be converted into cash if it will not be used by passengers, or if the value of the new tickets is lower than the one initially paid.
