The French government has decided to suspend all flights between Brazil and France "until further notice". The decision was made amid concerns about the new strain of COVID-19, the Brazilian version, Prime Minister Jean Castex announced on Tuesday.

"We note that the situation is getting worse and therefore we have decided to suspend all flights between Brazil and France until further notice.", Said the head of the French government to the National Assembly.

The pandemic has continued to worsen in Brazil since February due to the emergence of a local variant of the virus, called P1, which is considered more contagious and deadly, but is not yet very present in France.

With more than 99.000 dead and nearly 6.000 Covid-19 patients treated in intensive care units, France is still suffering from the third wave of coronavirus. The indicators do not show any improvement in the hospital, being in doubt the relaxation of the restrictions.
