Henri Coandă International Airport Bucharest and Bucharest International Airport Băneasa Aurel Vlaicu were ranked by Airports Council International - Europe in the top European 5 of the airports with the biggest increases in air traffic in the first quarter of the year 2017.

Thus, Henri Coanda Airport, which had an increase of 21,4% of air traffic, ranked fifth, after the airports Reykjavík-Keflavik (Iceland), Kiev, Larnaca (Cyprus) and Malta, in the category of airports with 5 - 10 million of passengers per year.

Baneasa Airport registered an increase of 679% and ranked first in the category under 5 million passengers per year, followed by Nis (Serbia), Oradea, Mykonos (Greece), Zadar (Croatia).

In the first three months, in the category of airports with over 25 of millions of passengers / year, the ranking is: Moscow Sheremetyevo, Manchester, London Gatwick, Amsterdam, and Oslo. In the 10 - 25 category of millions of passengers / year, the first places were the airports of Warsaw, Saint Petersburg, Lisbon, Prague and Brussels.

In the first three months of 2017, the National Airports Bucharest Airport registered the Henri Coandă Bucharest International Airport and the Bucharest-Baneasa International Airport Aurel Vlaicu, air traffic of 2,6 million passengers and 28.249 aircraft movements (landings and take-offs).

The evolution of the number of passengers on the two airports of the National Company Bucharest Airports significantly outweighs the general trend registered at European level, by 6,9%. At the capital's airports, there was also an increase in the number of aircraft movements, exceeding in this regard the European trend, by 3%.
