KLM Royal Dutch Airlines introduces a new cabin in World Business Class. The new seats are wider and a sliding door has been added for added comfort and privacy. Thanks to numerous innovations, their seats and equipment are 10-15% lighter in weight than business class seats corresponding to this market segment, thus contributing to KLM's sustainability goals.
The new KLM World Business Class (WBC) seats
The new KLM World Business Class (WBC) seats were designed following extensive market research based on customer needs. They offer passengers more space and comfort:
- All World Business Class passengers have direct aisle access. Each chair has a lightweight sliding door that can be easily opened and closed so the space can be closed off for more privacy when working, relaxing and/or sleeping;
- Multiple seat customization options and easy-to-use features, including an adjustable lower back support and a relaxation setting with a gentle massage function;
- The chair can be fully reclined into a comfortable 198 cm long bed;
- Passengers have more options for charging electronic devices, including wireless, now offering more outlets that are more easily accessible and visible.
- Passengers can store their belongings in a lockable compartment, which also features a built-in mirror.
- The seat has a built-in cup holder so passengers can safely leave a glass of water on the table top, even during turbulence.
The other World Business Class services, including the catering concept and SkyPriority, remain unchanged.

For the new World Business Class, KLM opted to install Jamco Venture seats in a 1-2-1 configuration, giving all WBC passengers direct aisle access. These Jamco Venture seats were previously installed in World Business Class on board KLM's Boeing 787 fleet. Following extensive research into customer preferences, KLM cooperated with the manufacturer to further improve the seats.
The overall JAMCO design, designed in collaboration with KLM, especially the personal cabin layout, is lighter in weight than the previous configuration without compromising quality. The lighter seats contribute to KLM's sustainability goals.
KLM's entire Boeing 777-300 and 200 fleet will be equipped with the new World Business Class seats. This fleet will also include the latest Premium Comfort cabin. The full renovation will be completed next year.
