Over 17 passengers affected by RYANAIR pilots' strike in Belgium!

pilots Ryanair from Belgium organized a second weekend strike, which led to the cancellation of around 100 flights, between 29-30 July 2023, which affected 17.000 passengers that had flights from and to Brussels Charleroi .

After a first strike, which took place between 15 and 16 July 2023 (which led to almost 120 flight cancellations and affected almost 20.000 passengers), the unions representing pilots in Belgium went on strike again on Saturday 29 July and Sunday 30 July 2023.

Also at the call of the unions ACV Puls and CNE, which criticizes the management of Ryanair for not wanting to comply with the collective labor agreement where a certain number of days of rest is provided for "in exchange for salary reductions of approximately 20% dating back to the time of the COVID-19 crisis". 

This latest move, which did not involve operations at Brussels-Zaventem Airport, resulted in the cancellation of the 96 flight cancellations from / to Charleroi, of which 50 on Saturday and 46 on Sunday. According to Charleroi airport, around 28% of scheduled traffic for these two days was affected by the strike.

The pilots' unions have announced that they will continue to strike in August, September or October until their demands are resolved. The pilots are demanding a return to the pre-pandemic base salary and compliance with the rest schedule. Pilot salaries are currently about 20% lower.
