The Feast of the Assumption, also known as Saint Mary / Saint Mary the Great, is celebrated every year on August 15. At the same time, on August 15 we celebrate the Day of the Romanian Navy / Romanian Naval Forces, on which occasion different events and shows are organized at the seaside, but also in different ports and port cities in the country. Below is the Navy Day 2022 schedule.

Celebrated for the first time on August 15, 1902, on board the "Elisabeta" cruiser, Romanian Navy Day reached its 120th anniversary this year. From one year to the next, the sailors' celebration has developed by combining traditional seafaring elements with aspects of the different stages of development of the Romanian Navy.

In 2022, the Romanian Naval Forces organize numerous events in Constanța, the central point of the demonstrations, as well as in Mangalia, Brăila, Tulcea, Galați, Bucharest and Bicaz.

La Constanta, the program of activities dedicated to the celebration of the Romanian Navy Day will begin with a photo exhibition signed by the Mass-Media Editorial Office of the Naval Forces, which presents aspects of the training activities and missions performed by military sailors. Monday, August 15, the demonstrations in Constanța will begin at 10:00 a.m., with the ceremonial raising of the Flag, the Jacket and the Great Pavoaz on board the military ships and will take place in the military port and Port Tomis. In the military port, the festivities will begin with the religious service and will be followed by the speeches of the officials and the visit of the training ship "Mircea", recently returned from an international training march.

Between the hours of 09:55-13:00, spectators will be able to enjoy the "Romanian Naval Forces 17" demonstrative exercise held at sea, in front of the Fleet Command.

The formation of military ships, anchored in front of the Fleet Command, will parade, between 11:00 and 12:00, to Midia and back, to greet the tourists on the coast. The parade will end with the parade of tourist boats, around 12:45 p.m., after which the God Neptune will retire and there will be a fireworks show, offered by the Constanța City Hall.

In the first part of the day of August 15, after the aviation parade, the God Neptune will make his appearance, around 10:55, accompanied by his retinue, and will start the seamanship games and contests, in which visitors will be invited to participate. The presence of the God Neptune and his retinue will be ensured by the Faculty of Arts of the "Ovidius" University in Constanța. Between the hours of 13:00-15:00, games and seamanship competitions will be organized in Port Tomis.

In the second part of the day of August 15, the military sailors will be present, in Tomis Port, between 17:00 and 20:00, after which the public is invited to a mini-concert performed by the musical bands of the Forces Romanian Navy and the 101st Airborne Division of the USA stationed at the 57th "Mihail Kogălniceanu" Air Base, which will take place on the waterfront of the Casino in Constanța, in the area of ​​the "Pescarii" statue group, between 20:00 and 20:30.

The 120th anniversary of the Romanian Navy Day will end with an extraordinary concert, performed by the National Chamber Choir "Madrigal - Marin Constantin" and with the torchlight retreat of the sailors, followed by a fireworks show. The torchlight retreat will take place between 20:30 and 22:00 and will take place along the route Casino - Regina Elisabeta Boulevard - Genovese Lighthouse - Fleet Command - "Ovidiu" Square.

The fireworks show will be provided by the Constanța City Hall and will end the events organized on the occasion of the Romanian Navy Day.
