Today, 2 November 2016, the day when the first base of a low-cost operator was announced at one of the largest airports in Europe. RYANAIR has announced the 85 network base, which will open in Frankfurt am Main (FRA).

From March 2017, 2 Boeing 737-800 aircraft will be allocated to the Frankfurt base. They will operate flights to 4 destinations: Alicante (daily), Faro (daily), Malaga (daily) and Palma de Mallorca (daily). To begin with, Ryanair has estimated the transport of 400 000 by passengers on the announced routes.

According to David O'Brien, Ryanair's commercial director, the low-cost carrier's plan is to rapidly expand its operations at this base (9th in Germany and 85th in Europe).
