Top 10 aerial fleets at the end of 2012
I've always been curious to find out which airline has the most planes in the fleet. I did some research and found out that Americans are the best at this - 5 operators in the top 10. I should mention that the number of passengers carried is not directly proportional to the number of aircraft in the fleet. But about that in another article!
Below are the top 10 airlines globally by number of aircraft in the fleet:
Position | Airline | Nr. aircraft |
---|---|---|
1 | Delta Air Lines | 722 |
2 | United Airlines | 698 |
3 | Lufthansa Group | 696 |
4 | Southwest Airlines |
692 |
5 | Air France-KLM | 621 |
6 | American Airlines |
617 |
7 | China Southern Airlines | 420 |
8 | International Airlines Group | 398 |
9 | Air Canada |
362 |
10 | US Airways | 338 |
As things stand, I think it was fairer to say that it is a top of the air carrier group. The above information is not calculated at the same time. In 2013 the rankings may change. Over 5500 aircraft are operated daily by those in the top rank, a number not very small.
