Turkish Airlines has completed an order for 15 737 MAX 8 aircraft

On 16 June 2014, Boeing and Turkish Airlines have finalized an order for 15 737 MAX 8 aircraft, worth 1.6 billion dollars at list price. The order was announced in May 2013, when the Turkish carrier placed a firm order for 50 of 737 MAX and 20 of 737 Next Generation aircraft.

Currently, with the completion of the order for the 15 737 MAX 8, Turkish Airlines has orders placed for approximately 100 of Boeing aircraft: 65 of 737 MAX aircraft, 25 of 737 Next Generation aircraft and 20 of 777-300ER (Extended) aircraft. At the same time, Turkish Airlines has 100 fleet of Boeing 737 and 15 777-300ER units on the fleet.

Related to the 737 MAX model, it outperformed 2000 by units ordered by 41 from customers. The new Boeing 737 MAX is based on the current 737 Next Generation, but comes equipped with a new, much more efficient and reliable engine, being based on new technologies. The US manufacturer promises a reduction of the operational cost by 8% to 737 MAX equipped with CFM International LEAP-1B compared to the competing models.
