Turkish cuisine

Although Turkish cuisine is usually associated with kebab, it is very diverse and full of dishes worth trying. Foods there are mainly seasoned with dried peppers, cumin, sumac, cinnamon and cloves. Here's what to try when you go to one Turkey holiday.

  • Lahmacun

Also called "Turkish pizza", lahmacun is indeed the shape of the iconic dish of Italian cuisine, but its ingredients differ from each other - to create a real Turkish pizza, you need not only meat, but also lemon juice .

  • Baklava

Baklava is probably the perfect dessert – puff pastry, nuts, pistachios and honey, topped with icing or a mixture of water, sugar and lemon juice. The delicacy is sprinkled at the end with lots of pistachios.

Greek cuisine 

Greeks love olives, seafood, meat and garlic dishes – and don't forget the crunchy feta cheese made from sheep's and goat's milk. Among the dishes you must definitely try are:

  • Moussaka

Moussaka is a dish with eggplant, minced meat and tomatoes and is one of the best specialties of Greek cuisine. Bechamel sauce and local cheese will give it a special flavor.

  • Horiatiki

This mysterious name hides a well-known Greek salad. Perfect for any occasion and time of day, it should be on the menu of all tourists who travel to Greece at least once. Even though it's easy to make – it usually consists of fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, feta cheese, onions, olive oil and olives – it doesn't taste better anywhere than in its country of origin. 

Egyptian cuisine

In Egyptian cuisine, rice, vegetables (especially beans) and fruits are the basis. Saffron, ginger, coriander, mint and cardamom give the dishes a characteristic aroma.

  • kushari

To be in a Egypt vacation and not trying a koshari is like not seeing the Pyramids of Giza. You will find a dish made from pasta, chickpeas, rice, lentils, onions and tomatoes. Its distinctive taste will surely delight you.

  • Falafel

Falafel, or small patties of chickpeas and/or beans, is probably known to everyone, especially to fans of vegetarian cuisine. In Egypt, this specialty is most often found in a mixed version (made of chickpeas and beans), with the addition of tahini paste.
