Austrian Airlines will fly to Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine, starting May 17. No other airline has operated this flight. The flight will be performed with an Embraer 195 aircraft, 3 times a week, and an increase in the daily connection is planned during the summer.

The Austrian carrier is thus consolidating its presence in Ukraine. In addition to Zaporizhzhia, the operational program already includes flights to Kiev, Lviv and Odessa. The announcement of this new route came on a special, not accidental, day, April 1, 2021. Taking a look at history, Austrian Airlines flew to Ukraine for the first time to Kiev on April 1, 1991.

"We are pleased to announce the launch of the route to Zaporizhzhia on the 30th anniversary of our connections with Ukraine.Said Michael Trestl, CCO of Austrian Airlines.

Vienna - Zaporizhzhia with Austrian Airlines.

The races will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, as follows:

OS679 Vienna 10:35 - 13:45 Zaporizhzhia
OS680 Zaporizhzhia 14:30 - 15:50 Vienna

The new route brings some changes to the airline's operational schedule. Thus, the Vienna-Dnipro route will no longer be operated due to its proximity to Zaporizhzhia. The two cities are 85 km away.

Austrian Airlines has adapted its General Conditions of Carriage (GTC) to the new emergency ordinance adopted by the Austrian government, which regulates mandatory wearing of FFP2 masks without valve in the means of transport. The obligation to wear masks thus applies, inter alia, on board aircraft and at all Austrian airports.
